What’s Flex MOSTAB?

    MOSTAB is the control system that enables you to feedback the angle of a first crystal
    on a double crystal monochromator to stabilize the position and intensity of an emitted beam by monochromator.
    A single axis feedback system composed of a feedback controller is used on MOSTAB so that the beam position
    and intensity can be stabilized effectively.
    Flex MOSTAB offers a new function that never existed before with the use of FPGA instead of DSP. It is made of
    NI’s Single- Board RIO (NI sbRIO-9636) that has FPGA and CPU controlled by NI’s LabVIEW in 19 inch mount chassis.
    Flex MOSTAB is a stabilization system for X-ray Free-Electron Laser (XFEL) monochromatic light irradiation control.

New MOSTAB composition

                        
  • Stand-alone control
    MOSTAB is composed of the feedback controller, host computer and piezo stage (PZ) controller which controls a double crystal monochromator. As the following figure, some blocks are changed depending on modes.                     
  • Flexibility
    The feedback composed of NI’s RIO product can be used over the long term.It is possible for it to be repaired and replaced even by component.                     
  • Code reusability and scalability
    Both FPGA and control codes made by NI LabVIEW have no problem using different hardware and controlling computer and customizing the control algorithm.                     
  • Automatic feedback parameter adjustment
    The adjustment of feedback parameter gets simpler by automation.
